(INDIA TV NEWS)

Floods declared in J&K, 8 people killed in house collapse, 16 feared trapped

Srinagar: At least eight people were killed and over 16 people feared trapped following the collapse of two residential houses in central Kashmir at Sharar-e-Sharief in Budgam district.
The police has confirmed the mishap and are working with the Army and civil administration for the rescue of the missing people, according to some media reports.
The state government today declared a flood situation in Kashmir Valley as Jhelum river crossed the danger mark in Srinagar following incessant rains.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sent a high level team of officials, along with Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to assess flood like situation in J&K.
All schools in the Valley have been closed for two days after heavy rains inundated large areas.
According to the Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Kashmir, river Jhelum crossed the danger mark of 18 feet and 22 feet at Ram Munshibagh and Sangam respectively at 7 AM.
Accordingly the authorities have declared that Kashmir is facing a flood situation and people living in low lying areas, especially in and around Jhelum, have been advised to move to safer areas.
The government has put forth men and machinery into service to help the people affected by the floods, an official spokesman said.
Elderly persons and children have also been asked to shift to specially set up camps.
He said all the employees deployed for flood control have been asked to report for duty immediately.
The heavy rains and flooding have paralysed normal life in the Valley, which was devastated by the worst-ever floods in its history in September last year.
"The government today decided to shut all schools up to class 12 for today and tomorrow in the wake of flood alert," Director Education, Kashmir, Showkat Beigh, told PTI.
Beigh said the government had first announced closure of schools up to class eight only, but the decision to extend it to high and higher secondary schools was taken this morning after assessing the situation.
He said all Board of School Examinations scheduled for today and tomorrow have also been postponed.  Meanwhile, University of Kashmir has also postponed its annual examinations for two days.
"The university examinations scheduled for today and tomorrow have been postponed. The new dates for these papers will be notified separately," a University official said.
Two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) comprising 100 personnel have been rushed as part of contingency measures in Jammu and Kashmir

MY POINT OF VIEW:- BBC Hindi is more better than INDIA TV, Because BBC Hindi cover the whole news very deeply and they showed more pictures rather than INDIA TV.

!!..ScHOoL lIfE ROckS..!!

The most amazing days of our life when there was no responsibility of real world but a huge tension of completing homework in a given period of time. The days when teachers and principal were considered as greatest enemies of our life.
We used to fight for silly things with our friends.
Our fights were either for the window seat in the bus or for stationary items like pencil or sharpener.
But such disputes hardly remain for long time and then we again used to become good friends.

Recess which was our favorite time period in school always seemed to be very small.
The guy/gal with the tastiest food would be the most pampered one, but only till his/her Tiffin is not completely finished...
The days when Superman, Batman, Spiderman and all such characters were our heroes and role-models.

The days when we used to thought of growing up very soon and always try to imitate like a matured grown-up person.

In those days we hated our school as it was responsible for our busy life.
Today when we pass through our school, we keep watching it and start recalling all the fun that we did in those days.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

(1)

The people we are in relationship with
are always a mirror, reflecting our own beliefs,
and simultaneously we are mirrors, reflecting their beliefs.
So... relationship is one of the most powerful tools for growth....
If we look honestly at our relationships,
we can see so much about how we have created them.

(2)

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within.

(3)

There are two ways of spreading light ...
To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.

(4)

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies.

GARDEN OF GOLD

I walk through the garden,
On this warm summer's day,
To smell the flowers,
That grandma raised.

In the middle,
Of this garden of gold,
Stood this one,
Single red stem rose,
The rose means so many things,
From the ones you receive on your wedding day,
To the one you get on Valentine's Day,
But this single rose standing here today,
Represents the love grandma gave.

From the love she gave,
When she planted it that day,
To the love she gave us,
Each and every day,
So when you pass this garden of gold,
Remember the love that this rose holds.

CHILD LABOUR

Child labour refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful.

This practice is considered exploitative by many international organisations. Legislations across the world prohibit child labour. These laws do not consider all work by children as child labour; exceptions include work by child artists, supervised training, certain categories of work such as those by Amish children, and others.

Child labour was employed to varying extents through most of history. Before 1940, numerous children aged 5–14 worked in Europe, the United States and various colonies of European powers. These children worked in agriculture, home-based assembly operations, factories, mining and in services such as newsies.

Some worked night shifts lasting 12 hours. With the rise of household income, availability of schools and passage of child labour laws, the incidence rates of child labour fell.

DOWRY..

dowry is the transfer of parental property to a daughter as her inheritance at her marriage (i.e. inter vivos) rather than at the owner's death (mortis causa). A dowry establishes a type of conjugal fund, the nature of which may vary widely. This fund provides an element of financial security in widowhood or against a negligent husband, and may eventually go to provide for her sons and daughters. Dowries may also go toward establishing a marital household, and therefore might consist of furnishings such as linens and furniture.
Dowry contrasts with the related concepts of bride price and dower. While bride price (or bride service) is a payment by the groom or his family to the bride's parents, dowry is the wealth transferred from the bride's family to the groom or his family, ostensibly for the bride. Similarly, dower is the property settled on the bride herself by the groom at the time of marriage and which remains under her ownership and control. Locally, dowry is called dahej in Hindi.
